This morning as I was getting the girls ready to venture off to Music Together Maia added to my vocabulary. I was changing Elise when Maia informed me that her (male) friend Rohan has a “shaky nakie”.*

“Really?” I asked.

“Yes” was the reply.

“Who else has a shaky nakie? Do you have a shaky nakie?”

“No, I’m a girl. Daddy has a shaky nakie too!”**

*to note: “nakie” is Maia’s own word for “vagina” so it stands to reason that if girls have a nakie–then boys have a shaky nakie. At least it stands in toddler reasoning.

**I should also note that Rohan likes to run about in the buff so Maia has observed the difference in girls and boys first hand. And while John doesn’t as a rule run around in the buff, we’re pretty open about showering/getting dressed with Maia around. She was bound to notice the plumbing soon enough. I’m just cracking up about her choice of words.
